I hereby make application for my child (children) to participate in the New Jersey State Youth Orchestra. We have read the NJSYO Parent/Student Handbook and understand that the fulfillment of the Orchestra's objectives requires the complete cooperation of each orchestra member and his/her parents. We accept the obligation of membership and understand that continued participation is contingent upon adherence to the standards and regulations described in the NJSYO handbook.
All students are expected to come to all rehearsals and all scheduled performances, and to arrive promptly. Absence from a scheduled concert performance due solely to a scheduling conflict with other activities is a serious violation of the Attendance Policy. If a student must miss a rehearsal, the Conductor must be notified in advance of the rehearsal if that is possible. More than two absences from rehearsal for a particular concert is a violation of the Attendance Policy. Late arrivals or early departures of 15 minutes or more to rehearsals will be recorded as absences. Violations of the Attendance Policy may result in a seating demotion for subsequent concert(s); not being allowed to perform in subsequent concert(s); not being allowed to progress to advanced seats, groups, sections or programs; or other actions at the discretion of the Conductor and the Board of Trustees.
